Hello Guys,
we are developing a system which in the end generates BIRT reports. We
will provide this system as a server service/functionality in order
anybody can access it through a web or other client application within our
company intranet infrastructure.
It is a possible use-case that lots of users will use this server-side
service (hundreds or thousands of users, maybe) and that lots of
concurrent report generations will be requested.
As an application server, JBoss will be certainly used.
Definitely we will need a wrapper of BIRT Report Engine API/BIRT report
engine underlying the BIRT runtime package (Eclipse platform plugins,
other BIRT jars and libs).
What is the loadability of a BIRT report engine? If I am right, the engine
can be used in multi-threaded way. How many concurrent requests can a BIRT
report engine serve (for example in a servlet context)? What memory
footprint does a BIRT engine have?
What scalability solutions could we have for BIRT Report Engine?
What about having multiple BIRT engines on the same or different (not
necessarily server) machines underlying different BIRT runtimes?
Many thanks for your reply in advance!
Csaba

Csaba,
This is not the first time this has been asked. I checked and keep
getting told no such thing exists. If you manage to find out, if you'd
share it I'd appreciate it.
Otherwise, you will have to make your own benchmark report to get these
metrics.
