I just started using Eclipse and I'm looking ofr the right place to
ask for help. It seems all the newsgroups and mailing lists mentioned
at the eclipse.org site are for discussig the technlogy and
development issues. Where is the right place to ask questions as a
user of the Eclipse IDE?

My specific question relates to the tutorial and Local History. I'm
working through the tutorial (which is for version 1). I tried making
a change to a java source file and then reverting by checking for
local history. However, the local history list is empty. Even after I
make several changes and save each. I checked preferences and the
defaults ae present for local history so it looks like it should be
working.

I'm using 2.0.2 as downloaded from the eclipse.org site 2 days ago.
Any help would be appreciated!

I'd say that eclipse.tools is the best place to start with questions such as
yours.

Re- Local History... From the selection's context menu, try choosing Replace
with > Local History... and I think this will work better for you. The
context menu option Restore from Local History... is for "undeleting"
artifacts from a Project that you deleted. You might also find the context
menu option Compare with > Local History... useful.

Thanks, Simon.

You got me going again. I was right-clicking in the editor window
thinking the menu choices for local history would apply to the whole
file. Instead I got an empty local history list.Right clicking in the
Package Explorer works fine.
