index.php/fa/45339/0/Hi,

I am new here and I started to use Eclipse IDE for Java Developers because I need it for my education. I tried the search here, but there comes an error 403... . Thats one reason why I start this topic... .

Normaly I use Microsoft Visual Studio Code cause it offers much benefits for user friendly coding experience.

But I recognised that Eclipse shows better information about packges, projects ands so on and I like the overview about the project (I am a Java-beginner).

There is only one thing that is realy anyoing with Eclipse:

Where is your high-resultion / 4K support???

Yes I know that is possible to change the eclipse.ini with the following parameters to get bigger symbols:
-Dswt.enable.autoScale=true
-Dswt.autoScale=150
-Dswt.autoScale.method=nearest

but we are living in the year 2024, my monitor (4k and 40") is from 2015 and your are still working with this smal symbol-size and I need to change manualy that size? What the hell...

Its time to go forward! Even Netbeans IDE 23 uses bigger symbols... .
Take a look on the picture to compare.

And there is another problem with your Software:

To get the a bigger font-size in the code editor: STRG ++ or STRG -+ does not work -> nothing happens on the num-pad (doesn't matter if its on or off)
Its only working the keys: (-_) and (+*~)

(I am using Windows 11, Eclipse IDE 2024-09, same problem with Linux Mint 21.3 (including flicker problem))

So please work on a better user experience of this program ;-)

Regards,
Martin.

There's much work being done in SWT to improve HDPI support on Windows. So you might ask here for what's best to try currently:

https://github.com/eclipse-platform/eclipse.platform.swt

I have 3 different 4k monitors of different physical sizes. Currently I find the best approach is change the properties of java.exe/javaw.exe on the Compatibility tab Change high DPI settings and use High DPI scaling override to be System.
