git compare shows "no changes in git" [message #1857487] Thu, 09 February 2023 20:30 Go to next message
Eclipse UserFriend
-Right-Clicki project in Project View
-Click Compare With > Committ
-History pops up
-Select some different commmit
and
-Synchronize View shows "No Changes"

When for sure there are differences between the current commit and
the selected commit

This used to work.

Has anywone seen this issue?

Sorry for various reasons this copy of Eclipse is a bit long in the tooth.

Version: Neon.3 Release (4.6.3)
Build id: 20170314-1500

Perhaps some instruction on how to reinstall egit within Eclipse
would be helpful.

Thanks!

Have you tried this in the current release? 20170314-1500 is approaching 6 years old.

Thanks. I know it is a bit old. Just wondering whether anyone else has seen this issue.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled egit with no change. Is it possible to install a later version of egit on the same Eclipse?

The newest EGit version that may work on Eclipse 4.6.3 is 5.13.0.
See https://wiki.eclipse.org/EGit/FAQ#What_versions_of_Eclipse_does_EGit_target.3F

Why don't you install a modern Eclipse version ?
Current release is 2022-12 coming with JGit/EGit 6.4.0.
