Please help get R0.20.0 published!

My goal is to publish R0.20.0 For February 3.

R0.20.0 RC2 is now available.
2022-03, 2022-06, 2022-09, and 2022-12 Eclipse IDE releases are covered.

If you are interested in this release, please check and confirm
https://download.eclipse.org/technology/babel/babel_language_packs/R0.20.0RC2/
promptly so that anything amiss can be corrected in a timely manner.

RC2 will be the R0.20.0 Release unless R0.20.0 related issues are found ( not in R0.19.2).

Thank you,

Gerald Mitchell

Fine. Translating eclipse is an endless job, so any date is as good or as bad as any other to set a release point... Last weekend I fixed some errors due to leading newline or impaired escape bars that were causing broken lines and some annoying "NLS unused message" warnings with Spanish translations: not much to care about.

On the other hand, I see a couple of missing packages in the 2022-12 set, as is mylyn. Is it OK?

One last question about regular builds. I feel they are quite handy for checking translated views with missing pieces. Maybe not nightly, but weekly or quarterly? I suppose that things are now easier after all the initial "unboxing".

Thanks for all the work done.
David

Thank you for pointing that Mylyn is missing.

I will need to check with SimRel for Eclipse IDE regarding Mylyn.

Based on https://projects.eclipse.org/releases/
Mylyn and Mylyn Docs are conflated in https://projects.eclipse.org/releases/2022-12 where it lists the technology but the docs version?
Mylyn Docs, but not Mylyn, was listed in 2022-09 and 2022-06, see https://projects.eclipse.org/releases/2022-09 and https://projects.eclipse.org/releases/2022-06
Both Mylyn and Mylyn Docs are listed in https://projects.eclipse.org/releases/2022-03
so it looks like Mylyn but not Mylyn Docs was removed in 2022-06

Looking into the features and plugins, SimRel Eclipse IDE only ships Mylyn Docs WikiText 3.0.42 after Mylyn 3.25.2 in 2022-03.

I may also need to reconsider the efforts to follow SimRel, as projects not on SimRel may be interested in maintaining translations.

Weekly builds are coming, the automation fix requires a last piece I am working on getting looked at in order to turn it on. R0.20.0 will be manual and then hopefully we will be back to weekly.

There are three differences to the package list in our last R0.19.2:

  • datatools
  • mylyn
  • technology.handly

For future reference, I regularly use Eclipse for Java Developers, and the Coverage pieces never seemed to be translatable at all.
Outside the main package, Window Builder seems to be in active development, and "I wouldn't mind" having it in the translations scope.
Thanks,
David

Thank you very much!

I will have to update for R0.20.0... The original intent in Documents for using SimRel as the schedule was to align with those releases, and these are not directly in SimRel which was used for guiding the build:

datatools
- A clear miss on my side, and I am investigating. In SimRel and R0.19.2 for 2021-12 etc.

For the other 2:

mylyn
- not on SimRel list, looks to be removed from SimRel after Mylyn 3.25.2 in 2022-03. It is in R0.20.0 for 2022-03 but not the later releases.

technology.handly
- not on SimRel list, but is in R0.19.2.

What is the best way to handle mylyn and handly?

1) included in R0.20.0 Eclipse IDE SimRel release Babel Language Packs same as in R0.19.2 (This is my expectation/default)

Myself, I have no real need for any of them in the short term. The core for basic Java programming is there, functional. I made the list to support you and the release and help with your jobs list, but I won't suffer much if any of them is missing... Maybe in other languages with higher completion percentage in these parts... No clue.

Not either, I'm not familiar/aware of eclipse simultaneous release procedures and compromises...

So, whatever best suits your project and your time and resources will be great, for me. If 1) is your choice, fine. Having the project alive again is much more than it was expected for the last months!

Note that clearly the goal was not met. The changes are made for (1) and the process has begun to rebuild with the projects added and the latest updates.
This process is slow; I do not anticipate more news until nearer to Feb 18.

Thank you all for your help!
Special thanks to you David!

RC4 will be moving forward as 0.20.0 as GA unless I hear of further large issues.

I hope to have release for Feb 28 or March 1. ( going forward, will try to align for SimRel)
