I m trying to connect from a raspberry .
I untherstoot that I only need the root CA to connect on this port .

I m trying :

mosquitto_sub -h test.mosquitto.org -p 8886 -t '#' --cafile "/etc/ssl/certs/ISRG_Root_X1.pem"

the response is

Error: A TLS error occurred.

obviously I m missing something , but I can not find out what .

In the end I would like to connect from python whith a paho.client , but getting it to work with mosquitto_sub would already be a great help i think .
