In these cases the build succeeds on Windows in GitBash when using:
mvn clean verify -DskipTests=true
- R4_19: java version "11.0.7" 2020-04-14 LTS + Apache Maven 3.8.1 (only with pristine cleanup just before building)
- R4_17: java version "11.0.7" 2020-04-14 LTS + Apache Maven 3.6.3
- R4_17: java version "11.0.7" 2020-04-14 LTS + Apache Maven 3.8.1
But it fails with different errors in these cases:
- R4_21: java version "11.0.7" 2020-04-14 LTS + Apache Maven 3.8.2
- R4_21: java version "11.0.7" 2020-04-14 LTS + Apache Maven 3.8.1
- R4_21: java version "11.0.7" 2020-04-14 LTS + Apache Maven 3.6.3
- R4_20: java version "11.0.7" 2020-04-14 LTS + Apache Maven 3.8.2
- R4_20: java version "11.0.7" 2020-04-14 LTS + Apache Maven 3.8.1
- R4_20: java version "11.0.7" 2020-04-14 LTS + Apache Maven 3.6.3
- R4_19: java version "11.0.7" 2020-04-14 LTS + Apache Maven 3.8.2
- R4_17: java version "11.0.7" 2020-04-14 LTS + Apache Maven 3.8.2
So are there recommended versions about how to build a specific release?
In https://wiki.eclipse.org/Platform-releng/Platform_Build it mentions Maven 3.1.1.
Do I really have to use that version?
Is another Java version recommended?
Originally I wanted to build R4_17, which succeeded at least in one case. However, I then have to run a Black Duck scan which got another Maven error again. Since in the future I also have to scan newer versions, this question is a general one about my base setup.
So do Eclipse releases require a specific combination of Java and Maven versions?
