Egit and Switching Between Master and Branch [message #1842427]

I create a new branch and began work. My work was interrupted by a need to go back to the master branch. Using Team->Switch I clicked on master. However, my changes were not replaced by the master content. When I look at Team->Switch, master is checked so what am I doing wrong? TIA.
