Hello,

We are using some custom boards Linux-based with PowerPC and ARM architectures. We use buildroot version 2019.02 to generate our Linux packages. At this version, the mosquitto version is 1.5.9 (client only). To check the MQTT functionality, we also use a mosquitto broker in a Windows PC.

We recently updated our broker from version 1.6.9 to 2.0.10. And the TLS communication stops working, showing the attached image. The OpenSSL version used to generate the version was 1.1.1k, while the custom boards have 1.1.1d. The problem is that we need to keep the compatibility versions. The used mosquitto.conf file is also attached.

Is there any known issue regarding compatibility between 1.x and 2.x versions?

Thank you in advance,
Igor

Hi Igor,

Your configuration file looks fine and there should be no compatibility problems in TLS between those two versions, so I'm slightly at a loss as to explain what is happening. My only thought could be that the encryption the client is trying to use is no longer supported by openssl 1.1.1 - but if you are using 1.1.1 on the client boards that wouldn't be the cause.

Have you been able to try with alternative clients / connecting from a different computer to confirm whether it is the broker that is at fault?

Regards,

Roger
