When loading elkg with ecore.xmi, I got this bug - https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=517054

It has been fixed since 2017 - https://github.com/eclipse/emf/commit/50e9f3083c691f9e16fcad4ba3ac56dbd2118548#diff-98f49e0d7d5c9bca663aefd0eda127bbbd71fc562ffcee0a33cb97c7a380b7f6

is there any plan upgrade EMF version?

Currently, no. In principle I don't see any issues with upgrading. I'm not aware of the requirements of Xtext and downstream projects though.

Also, we'd have to verify that elkjs transpilation keeps working properly (which uses a custom EMF version that supports GWT).

Feel free to raise an issue on Github to continue the discussion.
