Hi All,

Could you please let me know if Eclipse support Tomcat's remote debugging if Eclipse IDE is on subnet and Tomcat is running on a different subnet?

In our environment, if Eclipse and Tomcat are in same subnet, the debug mode works. And fails with "Failed to connect to remote VM. Connection Timed Out" if Tomcat is running on different subnet.

Thanks,
Ravi

Hi,
Have you checked using ping, trace or telnet if the remote machine is accessible from the client machine? If there is any firewall blocking the connection, it will not work.

Hi Sarika,

ping, tracert and Telnet works between these two hosts. All ports between these hosts are opened on Firewall too.

Tomcat's console log shows "failed to attach debugger. Failed during handshake" message.

The web apps deployed in Tomcat are accessible (Browsers and curl) from Eclipse running machine.

Thanks,
Ravi
