CDO seems to automatically use a central storage for Blobs and will not save the same data twice (which I think is a very good and important feature).

One drawback is that after all references to the data were deleted, the data itself will stay in the repository.

Is there an out-of-the-box way to clear this non-referenced data?
As a workaround, we were thinking about exporting the repository to XML, remove such elements, and then reimport the XML.

Indeed there's currently no manual or on-the-fly cleanup implemented. Please submit a feature request to keep track of the discussion...
