I am trying to update from Eclipse 2019-03 (4.11) to Eclipse 2020-03 (4.15) but I have a new warning in my workspace:

"DS Annotations missing from permanent build path"

None of the "Quick fixes" work and the only information I can find about it is a hint in the bug 544924.

Eclipse itself is the "Eclipse IDE for RCP and RAP Developers" package with a few add-ons.

The target platform is not the running Eclipse platform, though I do have both the "org.eclipse.pde.ds.annotations" and "org.eclipse.pde.ds.lib" bundles in the target (and as part of the Eclipse environment), among other "org.eclipse.pde.ds*" bundles.

It also appears that you cannot disable the warning!

What do I have to do to get rid of it?

OK,

With some more digging I have found the solution. In the PDE preferences there is an option to "Add DS Annotaions to the classpath". With this unchecked, the "annotations.jar" is treated like a regular Plug-In Dependency, which I can manage through normal MANIFEST.MF/feature.xml/target inclusion, and the warning is no longer apparent.
