Eclipse Details:
Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers
Version: 2019-12 (4.14.0)
Computer Details:
Mac (Late 2014)
OS: 10.10.5 (OSX Yosemite)
Problem Summary: I cannot load "Arduino AVR Boards" (1.8.2) via the Arduino Download Manager
Details. This is a new install of Eclipse. I open the program, select a new Arduino project, and then open the workspace.
I go to Help -> Arduino Downloads Manager, and with the "Platforms" tab selected, I click the ADD button. I select the check box for the first item on the list "Arduino AVR Boards", and press OK. The install status bar then zips across instantly, but the "Installed Platforms" list remains unpopulated.
I've manually copy and pasted the json file addresses from the Preferences section, and they return webpages filled with settings, so the webpage addresses appear correct.
I have installed other platforms (Arduino SAMD Beta Boards, various Adafruit boards, , Windows 10 lot Core) without any problem; it's just the "Arduino AVR Boards" that's not loading.
Additional info:
1. Under preferences, "Arduino home:" is indicated as /Users/<username>/.arduinocdt, and the following package_index.json files are listed:
(http://) downloads.arduino.cc/packages/package_index.json
(https://) adafruit.github.io/arduino-board-index/package_adafruit_index.json
(I can't list URLs without them being blocked, hence the brackets)
2. I've removed Eclipse and reinstalled completely, and I've also reinstalled under another admin login on my computer, but to no avail.
I've spent about a day on this so I'd be grateful for any advice.
