I am a IntelliJ user (phpStorm) and I need to develop a report and someone recommended JasperReports to me. My app runs under Docker so I plan to run the JasperServer in a container. My development enviroment is Ubuntu. I can't seem to get iReport to run under Ubuntu. So I am thinking my only choice is to use Eclipse with the Jaspersoft Studio plugin to develop the report. I see that there is a Jaspersoft Server container so I am not worried about running the report, just creating it.

Is this a crazy uphill climb to load up Eclipse, just to develop a JRXML report?

I suspect that's a question best answered by JasperSoft.
