My keyboard goes dead after about 5mins of not typing into Ganymede on
Linux Ubuntu 8.04 on an HP Pavillion.

Is there a timeout preference somewhere? should I report this as a bug?

What do you mean by dead? Keys don't work at all? Just in text editors..?

Since Ganymede has been in the field for a year, it seems unlikely you
are experiencing a widespread bug..

FWIW, I don't think there is a "feature" that disables typing after a
certain period.
