I am trying to do the helloworld tutorial, and there is an error as soon as I create a java project:

Errors occurred during the build.
Errors running builder 'Java Builder' on project 'HelloWorld'.
java.lang.NullPointerException

According to similar posts, I should also paste the error log:

Which version of Eclipse did you install? Which version of Java is being used in Window -> Preferences... -> Java -> Installed JREs?

I ask because these bugs sound related:

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=546338
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=545558

You'll see in the first bug that the developers are having trouble reproducing the problem, but that they've attempted to fix it in the current development stream of JDT (aimed for the upcoming 2019-06 release)...

I am having the same issue. I have installed JAVA JDK 12 and am running Eclipse 2019-03. Is there a way I can fix this?

At this point, I think the only fix is to update to the unreleased 2019-06 version using this update site: http://download.eclipse.org/releases/2019-06

I am using Eclipse Version: 2022-12 (4.26.0) Build id: 20221201-1913.

All of a sudden, Eclipse started showing this error message:

'Building has encountered a problem.
Errors occurred during the build.

Errors occurred during the build.
Errors running builder 'Java Builder' on project
'proj'
Index 1 out of bounds for length 1

Is there any hope to fix this problem? Is there any way I can locate its source?

It is incredibly annoying, it pops up every time I build the project.

If you shared a stack trace, we'd have more of a clue of where this is happening. The 2022-03 release is later today, so you could try updating in about 8 hours.

There is no stack trace. I looked for one, but the only thing I can add is a line in the "Problems" section:

Internal compiler error: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: Index 1 out of bounds for length 1 at org.eclipse.jdt.internal.compiler.ast.ReferenceExpression.sIsMoreSpecific(ReferenceExpression.java:1290) Reader.java /NewApp/src/project/Reader line 0 Java Problem

Sorry, I should have suggested to use the Error Log view; click search/magnifying glass is upper right and type Error to open it. These types of failure will generally log a stack trace here. If you double click and item in that view, you can copy it and paste it.
