I am using managed build, and the crossgcc toolchain.
I have enabled/disabled some Language Settings Providers. Sometimes, the Language Settings Providers in the project get restored to the default settings.

Does anyone know what can trigger this, and how to avoid it? It seem to happen sometimes when I'm working with several projects open in the workspace.

I see in cdt/cross/org.eclipse.cdt.build.crossgcc/plugin.xml that the default languageSettingsProviders is configured in the toolchain. However, when I manually have made changes in Properties -> C/C++ General -> Preprocessor Include... -> Providers, I expect those settings to be respected.

Seen in Eclipse releases: Neon, Oxygen, 2018-09.
