I am trying to install the SimRel version of Eclipse. I downloaded the app, decompressed it but when I tried to run it I got:
Failed to find a Main Class in "/private/var/folders/tc/41y795px1_bggyx2kwwl6l940000gn/T/QuickBooks AppTranslocation/DE2735A0-DBFC-44D9-BEF8-8DE698B99E40/d/Eclipse Installer 2.app/Contents/MacOS//../Eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.5.100.v20180827-1352.jar".

does not work, it is painful .. I tried to decompress on a PC with winrar => corrupt archive.
I just want to write code in C and it's a hassle to just install eclipse, just an installation it promises ... xcode no better, I'm going to go back to Os 9 at least there it's simple !!!

The installer is distributed as a *.dmg now so you should have no problem extracting it from a *.tar.gz:

thank you for your quick response
let the .dmg give me this message;
"Failed to find a Main Class in" / Volumes / Eclipse Installer / Eclipse Installer.app/Contents/MacOS//../Eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.5.700.v20200107-1357.jar ".

Are all the strange spaces in the path really in the message or just "typos" in your post? If you move the .app folder to elsewhere on the file system, does the same problem happen and run that, does the same thing happen?

What version of MacOS are you on?

You could also try to download a package from here:

https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/

Does the same thing happen when you launch this app?

It's not unexpected that the packaged download would fail the same way. :-( But these things work on my older Sierra virtual box, so I doubt it's specific to the Mac OS version. Also, I know it works for other people...

What version of Java have you installed on your machine? I believe on the Mac you must install a full JDK not just a JRE, it must be Java 8 or higher) and that doesn't come with the OS by default I think.
