I just downloaded eclipse oxygen. Was having a hard time installing it and i followed the instructions in askubuntu
Even the Eclipse main site, i though everything will be there in 'Getting started' but wasn't.
I want to use it for Java and J2EE.
I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

This doesn't actually tell us what those instructions were, which file you downloaded, or anything about the specific problem you're having. Could you explain those?

https://askubuntu.com/questions/26632/how-to-install-eclipse this is the site i got it from.

I downloaded the eclipse-oxygen the latest.

After much frustration on installing it on Ubuntu16.04LTS it finally looked like it install cos i change the 'eclipse.desktop' file to executable.

Now i can search eclipse on applications and see it, open it but won't load.
