I tried to follow the Getting started of GEF 5 from https://github.com/eclipse/gef but when I try to open either the GEF MVC or GEF Zest examples Eclipse simply freeze and does not paint anything anymore.

I use Eclipse Oxygen SR1 as development environment and targeted Eclipse Neon.

My system is a Fedora 27 with Oracle Java 1.8.0-152. Used GTK is 3.22.26

I do have installed the e(fx)clipse - IDE - PDE integration and also I start the Eclipse Application with -Dosgi.framework.extensions=org.eclipse.fx.osgi VM argument

Hi Robert,

that is unfortunate. Could you maybe take a look at the Eclipse error log and share the relevant messages with us?

Apart from that, GTK 3 is not really supported by SWT. You can try to make the examples work by disabling GTK 3, i.e. setting the environment variable SWT_GTK3 to 0.
