I just installed Eclipse for web development, but every time I close the IDE it crashes. Excerpts from the returned errors:

Quote:

# A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
#
# SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0x00007f132db7f44d, pid=16703, tid=16713

# JRE version: OpenJDK Runtime Environment (9.0+181) (build 9+181)
# Java VM: OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (9+181, mixed mode, tiered, compressed oops, g1 gc, linux-amd64)
# Problematic frame:
# C [libjavascriptcoregtk-4.0.so.18+0xe3144d] WTFCrash+0x1d

Quote:

Is there a workaround for this? If not, will somebody tell me how I uninstall Eclipse (I don't want to waste space on the Linux partition). I understand that all I have to do is to delete the Eclipse folders. Right now I know about: eclipse-installer, javascript-latest-released and .p2. But I'm not sure if I should delete .p2 too. Should I? Beside those folders is there another one I should know of?

Thanks!

Perhaps there is an update to Java. Perhaps you'd be better to use Java 8 instead of Java 9 to run the IDE. If you want to get rid of all Eclipse things, you can delete the .p2, .eclipse and your installation folder.

Exactly the same errors occur with Java 8 too. Anyway, thanks for answering!

UPDATE: It turns out the errors lie in the OpenJDK v8 or v9 for Manjaro, because that was the Linux distro I used.
I gave it another try on a Ubuntu 14.04 distro, and now it's working without any errors or warnings. But on Ubuntu 14.04 the latest OpenJDK is v7, so I had to install Oracle's Java v8.

I appreciate that you provide an update on your findings. That's helpful for the next person who runs into this issue. Thanks.
