I need eclipse for my assignment that is due on Monday!! I tried downloading it and it keeps telling me to get the updated version of JVM while I already have an updated version. I have a MacBook Pro and I contacted apple care with my issue and they said that everything on their side looks good it is eclipses fault. I really want this issue to be solve and I don't know what to do in order to do that

Have you tried installing the latest JDK 8 (not JRE)?

Seems like I have the same problem. I would consider myself as a newcomer to this too, as I had Eclipse on my previous laptop (also MacBook), but wanted to install it on my new one. I'm absolutely not experienced in how to use this. But I tried in terminal to type java -version

And I got:
java version "1.6.0_65"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_65-b14-468-11M4833)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.65-b04-468, mixed mode)

Are there any link to what to download here?

The Java SE Development Kit for what it still refers to as "Mac OS X" would be a start. http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html
