Eclipse Neon Remote System Explorer Issue [message #1766379]

I am running Eclipse Neon and am in the process of setting up a Raspberry Pi development environment based on Derek Molloy's book "Exploring the Raspberry Pi". I've set up the cross compiler and I can cross compile and copy an executable onto the remote Raspberry Pi computer using the Remote System Explorer plugin. What I can't do is open up a terminal and launch the executable on the Raspberry Pi from Eclipse like Derek Molloy does in his book. Has anyone done this? What am I missing? Thank you for your time!!
