I'm trying to create a new editor for a currently unsupported programming language. Specifically, I would like to populate the Outline view with language element names. The existing documentation appears to work with Eclipse 3.x, but not 4.x. It refers to org.eclipse.ui.views.contentoutline.IContentOutlinePage or org.eclipse.ui.views.contentoutline.ContentOutlinePage, which don't exist in the latest packages. Can someone direct me to a way of implementing outlining in Eclipse 4.x?

Those continue to exist in the latest version. They're in the org.eclipse.ui.views bundle.

At what site would I find that? I've downloaded pretty much everything at The Eclipse Project Updates - http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/updates/4.6, and I don't seem to have org.eclipse.ui.views.contentoutline, although I do have org.eclipse.ui.views.

I looked at http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/updates/4.6/R-4.6.3-201703010400/plugins/org.eclipse.ui.views_3.8.102.v20170111-0801.jar which is one of the update sites in that 4.6 composite and it has these classes. Did you create a plug-in dependencies on this bundle? Note it's quite hand to type "Add Add" in the Quick Access field (to the left of the perspective control in the upper left) and choose "Add All Plug-ins to Java Search" so that Ctrl-Shift-T will find classes in your target platform even if you don't yet have any plug-in dependencies on them in the workspace.
