After upgrading from 3.20 to 3.22 today the Preferences UI had buttons partially outside of the window and in some places certain elements were not visible at all.
I now downgraded back to 3.2 and everything seems to be back to normal.

When starting from the command line i had gotten lots of gtk.css warnings.
I am using Gnome on Arch Linux.

Has anyone else had problems with GTK 3.22 breaking the UI?

Attached are a screenshot of the Preferences window as well as the console output after starting eclipse (Now there are only two GTK-wanings after downgrading)

What version of Eclipse are you running? If Neon, be sure to update to the latest service release (Neon.1) which was just released. If the problems persist, I'd suggest to open a bug against SWT.

Yes I am running Neon.1 (eclipse-java-4.6.1-1), the problem also occurred with the previous version tho (eclipse-java-4.6.0-1).

Could this also be a GTK issue instead?
It seems to me that a minor upgrade shouldn't break existing code this bad.

I have also tinkered with the GTK config before on this system, if I am the only one having problems it could be that the upgrade in combination with my config changes broke something.
If nobody else can reproduce the problem I will first take a closer look at my environment before filing a bug.

Edit: the exact GTK version is 3.22.1+8+ge11df6c-2 and it's only 2 days old so far https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/log/trunk?h=packages/gtk3

Edit2: The newest working GTK version for me is gtk3-3.20.9-1, earlier versions of 3.22 have the same issues

You could try an 4.7/Oxygen build and see if any of the fixes there make it work.

Otherwise please do file a bug with SWT. They're very responsive to GTK3 bugs.

Hi,

i have similiar problems.

I'm running Arch Linux and yesterday i did an upgrade for gnome 3 (3.20 -> 3.22). After that it wasn't possible to see buttons in popups like the git pull window. To resize the window doesn't help because the complete content grows unlimited.
Sorry that i forgot to make some screenshots.

I also got exceptions when i tried to switch the perspective. See the attached file.

Greets

Andy

EDIT: I configured pacman to ignore the gnome packages and update my system again. And now 3.22.1+8+ge11df6c-2 and 3.20.4-1 are installed. And everything is working fine with eclipse. Maybe the problem exists in the gnome shell version 3.22.1+2+g5a08886-1.

After some research i read that gnome 3.22 uses Wayland as default display server. When i switch back to X.org everything works like expected.

So i would say that SWT is not ready to use together with Wayland.

Ah good find. I didn't cotton on to anything to do with Wayland. If you're interested, Wayland support is being tracked by bug 496923. You can disable the Wayland support by setting `GDK_BACKEND=x11` in your environment before launching Eclipse.
