Sirius Connection Mode [message #1740538] Mon, 15 August 2016 10:09 Go to next message

I'm trying to add a feature to my application that would allow a connection mode (similar to the Connector tool in Visio) that would allow the user to quickly make connections between nodes without having to select the connection object from the palette each time. I haven't seen anything similar so I was curious if it was even possible without a significant time investment.

Hello,

I do not know how the connector tool in Visio works, but I guess that it is close to the popup bar. On a diagram description (in your VSM), if "Enable popup bars" is activated, then when the mouse is over an diagram element a popup appears to create sub-elements. I guess you could extend this mechanism to edges where selecting the element in the popup bars would do the same action as selecting in the palette the edge tool and selecting the source of the edge.
An easy alternative would be to have a drop tool (having model operation creating the reference) this way you select the source and drag it to the target to draw the reference.

Regards,
Steve
