I am getting this error, and, being quite sure that the JRE and the JDK are both originating from Java, I am not sure how to fix this problem and get Eclipse back to a state where I can work with it.

I am using Windows 10.

See attached error.

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10586]
(c) 2015 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Users\slyth_000>java -version
java version "1.8.0_73"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_73-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.73-b02, mixed mode, sharing)

Squinting at the paths, it seems clear to me that you're trying to use a
32-bit Eclipse with a 64-bit JRE.
