Problem Installing Eclipse on MacOS 10.11.3 [message #1724056]

Dear Community,

I am not the software development crack but need to install Eclipse on my mac to run and program a weather station of my soon (TinkerForg).

Currently I am running the following versions:
- MacOs 10.11.3
- Java Version 8 Built 1.8.0_73-b02

and tried in several ways to install eclipse without success.

Either eclipse is requesting a downgrade of Java SE 6-Runtime-version.
If I do so (via the apple recommended procedure) than again eclipse is requesting a minimum Java software level of 1.7.

Could any body provide a "Cooking recipe for dummies" how to install eclipse within the above described environment? (ideally with Hyperlinks to requested download areas).

I'm not a Mac expert but I've heard that you need to install a recent Oracle JDK, not a JRE. Does that solve it?
