I've been having issues accessing the internet from Eclipse. I'm behind a company proxy and put in the manual proxy host/port/credentials and still no luck.

Something strange I'm also noticing that might be related, is that when Eclipse attempts to access the internet it appears to be adding a local path before the URL, and attempt to access that - which fails.

example: attempting to access the admin console for Websphere creates this URL:
file:///home/id053921/http:/localhost:9062/ibm/console/login.do

The portion before http is a local path on my VM where Eclipse is currently installed.

On my other VM using Rational Application Developer, this would be: http://localhost:9062/ibm/console/login.do, and launch propertly.

I tried to access the internet through Eclipse elsewhere and saw it was doing the same thing.

Anyone ever see this? How do I fix this problem? One thing I noticed is that the Eclipse installation folder by default contained spaces. When I renamed the folder to have no spaces the urls are changing to:
file:///home/id053921/eclipse_keplar/http:/localhost:9062/ibm/console/login.do

Update: I reinstalled eclipse with no spaces in the install path and the issue is still happening, with the new path showing in the URL
