How to make CDO changes update GMF diagrams? [message #1719768]

I have been working with EMF/GMF for several years now, but I am just starting to play with CDO. I have modified an EMF model so that it lives in the CDO repository. That seems to work fine. I can create GMF diagrams and their edits update the CDO repository, but the display of the diagram itself does not update when CDO model changes occur. If I close and re-open the diagram, the changes are there.

What is the mechanism by which CDO notifies the GMF editor of changes? Is there some special configuration required?
