Eclipse server?! (read it carefully :-) [message #1718388] Wed, 23 December 2015 04:11
Eclipse UserFriend
Hi all
I'm trying to install a central eclipse server which my users can work on.
today they are using windows machines (win7) connected via NFS services to a solaris machine holding the sources.
when users want to perform git commands they are ssh'ing to the solaris machine and doing it there (due to performance issues).
The users are C++ developers, indexing is a nightmare.

Since windows + NFS + Java is never a good combination, I would like to have a central debian server, where users can run eclipse from there and have the eclipse GUI via X11.
My questions is:
1. which version of eclipse should i use? Mars latest?
2. is there a server version for eclipse? (I was trying eclise che but it is not there yet..)
3. is there a proper way to speed up C++ indexing?

any other idea is welcome !

Thanks
Oded
