In the channel definition, there is the <item-type>Number</item-type> element. Does ESH ensure that when a binding receives a command through handleCommand() that it is always of an accepted data type accepted by the specified item-type? I'm just wondering if I define this in my XML if I can then be sure that it won't end up receiving some other type or do I need to check?

At the moment the framework does NOT check that. But I guess it could be checked when a link between an item and a channel is added.

So please feel free to open a bug.
