I have just loaded Eclipse and the CDT on a Linux/Fedora 21 system. We have a large existing project with many directories that is mainly C++ but also uses many scripts. I would like to create a single project to encompass this effort. I am actually not interested in building the project, I am simply looking for a project wide editor. The build is done in a special VM. I think that the problem seems to be that the top level directory doesn't have any C++ files. I have gone through the process twice, after reading the introductory C++ material. I then tried to create a project in one of the C++ subdirectories and that worked. So it seems like my process is basically correct, but I am simply doing something wrong. When I say that the project create didn't work, what I mean is that after entering everything in the wizard and selecting the top level directory, etc., when I clicked the finish button there wasn't a project created. When I repeated those steps but selected a subdirectory that contained C++ source files, it did create and open a project.

Thank you in advance for help getting started!

Chuck

Eclipse hosts a separate forum for C/C++ issues if you'd like to post
there. It's called Eclipse CDT.
