Is there any way to configure egit to use your native (OS) git and not the jgit implementation?

Could you please explain the rational of using JGit instead of the native Git binaries?

I believe it's because the natives are GPL (or some variant of GPL) so
they can't be redistributed in an EPL-compatible way.
