IBM contribution - plugs don't show in Eclipse [message #30802] Sat, 24 July 2004 13:40 Go to next message

Hi,
Having installed everything as per the "Getting Started" guide, Eclipse
doesn't pick up on the presence of the newly installed plugins. E.g. Under
Window->Show view->Other there is no entry for "Data".
Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?
Thanks,
M

Hi,

I had the same problem. Then I installed VE and now everything seems to
work fine.

That doesn't seem to help - I already had VE installed anyway, as it's in
the list on the "Getting Started" page.
Thanks,
Mike

I had the same problem initially too. What I ended up doing was just
downloading a fresh install of
eclipse and then installing the ibm.zip files and the other required
eclipse libraries (GEF, VE, etc). After
that I was able to use the new ibm options. My current theory is that I
had other plugins in my old
eclipse install that might have conflicted, not sure if that is possible
but you never know :0)

Finally had success.
Under Help - Software Updates - Manage Configuration, I selected the "Show
Disabled Features" button in the toolbar. The IBM package showed up and I
could enable it.

Maybe you made the same mistake I did and neglected to unzip the
com.ibm.wtp.sdk*.zip file. The documentation
( http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/initial-contribution/IBM/Get ting%20Started.html)
actually tells you to do this ("download the ibm.zip and extract
it. It contains an a copy of this "Getting Started" guide and the
com.ibm.wtp.sdk zip file. Unzip this SDK into the same location as the
above SDKs") but it's pretty easy to overlook.
