our development process defines, that the tests (manual and automated) are defined before the development starts. By this the tests will be based on the requirements and not on the implementation. The test definitions can also help the developers to understand which behavior is expected and they can already perform the tests manually.
We have done that with the story-files for Cucumber which worked quite well, but have now switched to Jubula for a new project.
It is very nice to be able to create the tests in Jubula before the GUI exists, in fact that was the major reason to use Jubula. But what we are missing now, is a way to show the test definitions to the developers. They should not need a Jubula installation to look at the tests.
We can't use the dashboard or test result exports, because the tests won't run without an AUT.
What is the right way to get some kind of documentation of the test definitions? Is there a way to export it in some way, e.g. XML?
Do you have any ideas how we could make our tests readable outside of Jubula without executing them?
Thanks!

One thing you could do is to link the tests to requirements in an ALM system and let the developers read the test definitions there. Would that be feasible?

The requirements are documented in Confluence and Jira, that's where the developers look at. But there is no documentation of the test cases as they are only defined within Jubula based on the said documentation.
I don't want to document them again outside of Jubula and am looking for some way to export the test definition from Jubula.

Thanks for the information. What kind of information are you looking to export? Are you thinking of something like one of the test result reports, but before the test has run? Or are you thinking of being able to export commments that you've added to test nodes that describe what the test should do (or both)?
There's currently no support for either of these things, but if you're interested in having the team look at doing this for you, then contact us.
