Hi out there!
As a beginner in voice-software i have some (maybe stupid) question:
my aim is to create a java-application, which can be controlled by
voice, e.g. an application displays some graphical stuff and functions
like pan, zoom... etc. can be used by voice command like "zoom in,
factor 2" (or maybe in 2 steps) in real time.
- Is anything similar to this (maybe the app running as an applet or a
servlet) possible at all using the VTP?
- I've read about Skype and Tellme Studio on the project-site so far but
would it be possible to run such a voice controlled app on a local
offline (means NO web access) standalone pc?
- What kind of software would be requiered? Is all of this implementable
using low-cost or even no-cost components?
- As it seems to be a real wide field of different components needed for
voice-software: is there any "real beginner"-page out there explaining
all different components of voice-software and its archticture? I've
read so much about grammers, personas, browsers, vxml, x+v, java speech,
DTD... but I can't get all these things together or don't even know if
they could/should be put together. And overall I'm more than just a
little bit confused!?!
I would be grateful for any usefull hints, tips, links...!
PS: While doing the getting started-tutorial on http://www.eclipse.org/vtp/getting-started/gettingstarted.ph p I get a
failure message on the point "... An instance of Tomcat will be now be
available in the Servers view. To start it, right click and select
Start." After doing this, a Tomcat error appears: "Port 8005 required by
Tomcat 5.5 @ localhost is already in use. ...". What can I do? I'm using
Eclipse 3.2.2, WST&JST 1.5.3, VTP 1.0.0, Java 6, Tomcat 5.5 and
followed the tutorial step-by-step. Further on I cannot create a Tellme
Studio-Account because I always get the message "You must enter a valid
phone number including area code." What's the correct format that number
must be entered?
Thanks in advance!
