Eclipse Community Forums[ANN] RAP 2.0 M4 published
https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/mv/msg/442406/992430/#msg_992430
just before the holidays, we've finished and published our forth and
last milestone for RAP 2.0.
This milestone contains a couple of new client services, including
ClientInfo (provides you with client locale and timezone info) and
UrlLauncher (lets you open URls on the client). One client service we
added in M3 had to be changed again: BrowserHistory has been replaced by
the more general and extensible BrowserNavigation.
The focus of this milestone was really on clearing up our API. Thus M4
is the milestone with the biggest changelog so far. But now, with the
new classes UISession and ApplicationContext, the foundation for RAP 2.0
is in place and we think it's good. You can read through the list of
changes in our New and Noteworthy [1]. Where possible, we kept old API
in place and marked it as deprecated. All changes are documented in the
migration guide [2].
Since we're already pretty close to the 2.0 release on Feb 8, we will
let it cool down from this point on. There will be a release candidate
on January 18, that may bring some additions, but no breaking changes
are planned anymore.
The milestone build is available on our download page [3], in our
repositories, and also in the Eclipse Kepler repository [4].
We wish you all relaxing holidays and hope to hear from you again next year!
