Eclipse Community ForumsAspectJ Projects Broken After Updating AJDT
https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/mv/msg/369685/902558/#msg_902558
From h-t-t-p://download.eclipse.org/tools/ajdt/37/dev/update, I'm using AJDT 2.2.1.e37x-20120716-0900.
Now when I create a new AspectJ project, I immediately get a red exclamation mark next to the project entry, along with the error message "The container 'AspectJ Runtime Library' references non existing library 'file:\C:\Program Files\Eclipse\eclipse-sdk-3.7\plugins\org.aspectj.runtime_1.7.0.20120703164200.jar!\aspectjrt.jar'".
Checking the file system, the Jar file is there, and it contains a top-level "aspectjrt.jar". So the error message is misguiding!
This looks like a regression. Last time I ran into this, I was told to switch to the "dev" update site, which solved the problem then.
Now I'm unable to have a working AspectJ project in Eclipse. I wonder how other people do it ...

org.aspectj.runtime_1.7.0.20120703164200.jar should not exist. Instead, you should have a folder named org.aspectj.runtime_1.7.0.20120703164200.
It's possible that you unzipped an archived update site into your Eclipse installation.
Make sure that you uninstall AJDT and reinstall it using Eclipse's install manager and the update site from here: http://download.eclipse.org/tools/ajdt/37/dev/update/]]>Andrew Eisenberg2012-08-20T01:53:48-00:00Re: AspectJ Projects Broken After Updating AJDT

no, I didn't manually unzip anything. I just went through the standard Eclipse procedure via Help -> Check for Updates, which broke my project.
Afterwards, I did uninstall AJDT and switch to the non-dev update site. Same problem. Then, I uninstalled AJDT and switched back to the dev site. Again, to no avail.
Anyway, I'm on Juno since today, where I'm not facing this issue.]]>Philip Koester2012-08-20T18:02:42-00:00Re: AspectJ Projects Broken After Updating AJDT

no, I didn't manually unzip anything. I went through the standard Eclipse update procedure via Help -> Check for Updates, which broke my AspectJ projects.
I did uninstall AJDT altogether, switched to the non-dev update site. Same problem.
Then again, I uninstalled AJDT, switched back to the dev site. No luck.
Anyway, since today I'm on Juno, where I am not facing this issue. So let's consider it solved.
