Eclipse Community ForumsEPP Nightly Build. What is "Replacing feature version"?
https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/mv/msg/2712/7955/#msg_7955
I downloaded 20080410-0540_eclipse-modeling-ganymede-M6-linux.gtk.x86.tar .gz
from the EPP Nighly build site. As the page says, the nighly builds
are made from the Ganymede Staging Update Site.
This confuses me, I thought It'd contain the M6 Packages, as these are already available at the
Staging Update site. In the build log, these lines are suspicious:
!ENTRY org.eclipse.update.core 4 0 2008-04-10 02:37:27.748
!MESSAGE Digest could not be parsed:Element type "includes" must be followed by either attribute specifications, ">" or "/>".

Hi Felix,
the short answer: If there is no specific version of a feature defined in
the EPP configuration file, the available update sites will be searched and
the version 'replaced' by the highest version.
But I'll have a look if everything works as expected. You are right that
this looks a bit strange.

I looked into the log, it seems there are some unresolved dependencies
from GMF examples to EMF examples. I also got these errors at startup
time after installing the per-project builds manually.

We don't ship EMF's examples as plugins that would be installed into the
running IDE, so it doesn't make sense for any downstream builds to
expect otherwise. We have https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=188989 open to ship them
in a form that would allow the user to "unzip" them into their workspace
via a wizard. That's probably the most sensible for all examples, so
perhaps it makes sense that GMF should be planning the same thing.

via a wizard. That's probably the most sensible for all examples, so
perhaps it makes sense that GMF should be planning the same thing.

The 20080412-0540 build doesn't contain the EMF examples any more and the
feature versions are new and updated:
