This product is used by embedded software engineers within our customers to write, debug and compile their code to be embedded on our processors and supports most of our device and toolchain line-up. (Renesas, GNU, IAR and Green Hills)
Our European team is responsible for the product in total and the development team manage the product requirements and roadmap. Primarily you will be working on the development of debugger elements of the product.
The actual product uses the Eclipse CDT plugins and GDB (GNU Debugger).
The user interface is developed in Java as you would expect from an Eclipse IDE.
This role is primarily for the development of Renesas specific new debugging and application features. These Renesas specific features concentrate on the proprietary areas of the IDE that would not be supported well from an "out of the box" development environment.Generally these are developed using the Eclipse RCP plugin framework. We are developing using the Kepler development environment for the current versions. The design is strongly object orientated focused.
You will be expected to run with tasks for all areas of the lifecycle from requirements, design, implementation, test and maintenance and will be given the chance to "own" areas with supervision from the existing team members.
Key Skills:
Strong Java developer in the client Windows application development domain.
Good strong engineering background. (Not financial services industry or server development - ideally electronics industry)
Strong object orientated design skills.
Multi-threaded application development experience
Ideally some experience or knowledge for embedded software development although expertise is not necessary (Developers sometimes have to view device manuals to check which pins should be set for a certain function or tweak linker section addresses based on device memory maps so some knowledge of this is advantageous)
Solid verbal and written communication skills. We are working in a team environment where communication is critical.
We can provide a little flexibility on the working hours but the work is 100% on-site and no chance of home working.
The contract is initially 6 months, but with potential for multiple renewals if working well.
The project is a long term Renesas investment as we always need software tools.
The contract will be direct with Renesas - no agency margins apply, so we can offer attractive rates for the right applicants!]]>Andy Clarke2017-05-25T15:23:25-00:00Re: Eclipse RCP/Java Contractor

I am interested in, but might need a sponsorship to work in UK. I am currently working in a company based in Germany.]]>Girish Chandran2017-08-23T09:52:57-00:00Re: Eclipse RCP/Java Contractor
