https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/mv/msg/1114575/1864111/#msg_1864111
following the install of mosquitto on Ubuntu 22.04 with Webmin and open ssl 3.0.2
all works fine WITHOUT SSL
installing onto Ubuntu 22.04 w/ OpenSSL 3.0.2 15 Mar 2022 (Library: OpenSSL 3.0.2 15 Mar 2022)
whatever i do, i cannot get a signed client SSL to work
I see many blogs about issues with OpenSSL 3.0.2 - is this an issue for Mosquitto ? is there an upgrade path for OpenSSl to fix the issue ?

https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/mv/msg/1114559/1864072/#msg_1864072
I'm looking for a web client basically. So we don't have to install a desktop client on every machine to just check if messages arrive at our broker.
Is something like this already developed or is it technically not possible?
Thank you!]]>Florian Lambrecht2024-03-14T08:20:54-00:00Problem in locally connecting ESP32 to Mosquitto Broker
https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/mv/msg/1114533/1863990/#msg_1863990
When trying to locally connecting an ESP32 device (physically connected to the PC running mosquitto Broker) using MicroPython code below
from umqtt.simple import MQTTClient
import network
import utime as time
import machine
def restart_and_reconnect():
print('Failed to connect to MQTT broker. Reconnecting...')
time.sleep(10)
machine.reset()
# Connecting to Wifi
wifi_client = network.WLAN(network.STA_IF)
wifi_client.active(True)
print("Connecting device to WiFi")
wifi_client.connect(WIFI_SSID, WIFI_PASSWORD)
# Wait until WiFi is Connected
while not wifi_client.isconnected():
print("Connecting")
time.sleep(0.1)
print("WiFi Connected!")
print(wifi_client.ifconfig())
# Connect to MQTT
mqtt_client = mqtt_connect()
#try:
# mqtt_client = mqtt_connect()
#except OSError as e:
# restart_and_reconnect()
print("Mqtt Connected!")
It failed to connect to the broker with error message as
Connecting to MQTT broker ...Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<stdin>", line 72, in <module>
File "<stdin>", line 48, in mqtt_connect
File "umqtt/simple.py", line 68, in connect
OSError: [Errno 104] ECONNRESET
However, the same code if used to connect to an external Broker, "broker.mqttdashboard.com", rather than the local one "localhost", it works fine.
I tried to add a try except to caught the OSError and to make the device restart and reconnect, it returns the following
Connecting to MQTT broker ...Failed to connect to MQTT broker. Reconnecting...

Still not connect to the broker. Could anyone out there kindly help me with this problem? Thanks in advance!

Julien Durand2024-02-18T08:35:57-00:00Client not authorised after adding websocket listener
https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/mv/msg/1114388/1863617/#msg_1863617
I have a mosquitto broker v 2.0.18 running on Windows and a few esp32 devices connecting to it using the openMqtt gateway and the mqtt protocol on port 1883. Authentication is enabled (allow_anonymous false and per_listener_settings true). All working well. Today I want to configure the broker so that it accepts websocket connections on port 9001. I have changed the mosquitto.conf as below :
1708075318: mosquitto version 2.0.18 starting
1708075318: Config loaded from mosquitto.conf.
1708075318: Opening ipv4 listen socket on port 1883.
1708075318: Opening websockets listen socket on port 9001.
1708075318: mosquitto version 2.0.18 running
Since this update, my esp32 devices are not able to connect anymore this is what I get:
1708076252: New connection from 192.168.1.2:55999 on port 1883.
1708076255: Sending CONNACK to ESP32-GARAGE (0, 5)
1708076255: Client ESP32-GARAGE disconnected, not authorised.
Any idea why ?]]>Julien Durand2024-02-16T09:39:44-00:00mqtt bridge reconnects every two minutes with a server broker
https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/mv/msg/1114387/1863615/#msg_1863615
New connection from 4.7.5.48:53594 on port 1883.
Client dv-bridge already connected, closing old connection.
New bridge connected from 4.7.5.48:53594 as dv-bridge (p2, c0, k60, u'user').
Client dv-bridge disconnected: Success.
New connection from 12.22.7.95:65116 on port 1883.
New bridge connected from 12.22.7.95:65116 as dv-bridge (p2, c0, k60, u'user').
ANd this is repeated with same number ip and port every two minutes or so.
How can I handle this?
