About the call
TheiaCon is the annual conference for modern tool builders. It brings together the people who build the next generation of tools and IDEs: developers, adopters, and contributors from across the ecosystem, with Eclipse Theia at its center.
We are looking for talks that bring real engineering substance: architectures that work, lessons learned in production, honest reports on what did not work, and code others can build on.
Whether you are building a custom tool on Theia, integrating AI agents into your development workflow, running tools at enterprise scale, or working on the open infrastructure that makes all of this possible, TheiaCon 2026 is your stage.
Suggested topics
These topics are suggestions, not limitations. We welcome any proposal relevant to modern tool builders and the broader ecosystem around Eclipse Theia.
Adopter stories
What have you built? We are looking for presentations and demos of real products and tools in production, their use cases, and the value they deliver. These talks are consistently among the most popular at TheiaCon.
Building tools and IDEs
Experiences, patterns, and best practices for building custom tools, IDEs, and developer experiences, with Eclipse Theia and beyond, on desktop and in the cloud.
AI-powered developer experiences
AI coding workflows, agentic tools, AI-native tooling, and how AI is changing the way tools are built and used.
AI infrastructure for tool builders
The open infrastructure behind AI-native tools, including new projects such as Eclipse Enclave, which provides secure, isolated runtimes for autonomous AI agents. Sandboxing, policy enforcement, observability, and governance for agentic workflows.
Demos and cool stuff
Show us what you built. Live demos, experiments, prototypes, and unexpected uses of the platform. It does not have to be production-ready, it has to be interesting.
Technical deep dives
Performance work, architecture decisions, internals, and hard-won lessons from the field.
Platform evolution
Where Theia and the surrounding platform are heading, and what the community needs next.
Complementary technologies
Projects from the broader ecosystem, such as Eclipse Open VSX and other technologies that tool builders rely on.
Session formats
We welcome proposals for:
- Full-length talks offering practical experience, technical depth, or a considered perspective
- Lightning talks presenting a focused idea, project, technique, or lesson
- Panel discussions bringing together different perspectives on a relevant topic
What makes a strong proposal?
A strong proposal clearly explains what the session will cover, why it matters to developers building with Eclipse Theia, and what attendees will learn.
We particularly value concrete engineering experiences, candid lessons, practical takeaways, technical depth, and perspectives that help advance open developer tooling.
Commercial products and services may be discussed as part of a useful technical or production story, but proposals should focus on sharing knowledge rather than delivering a sales presentation.
Who can submit?
Everyone is welcome to submit. You do not need to contribute to Eclipse Theia or have previous conference speaking experience.
We encourage proposals from developers, tool builders, software architects, platform engineers, researchers, open source maintainers, and members of related developer tooling communities. First-time speakers are warmly invited to participate.
Bring your story, technical insights, or vision, and help shape the future of open developer tools built with Eclipse Theia.
