I hope this report finds everyone well. Recently, we held our elections for the 2025 Eclipse Foundation Contributing Member and Committer Member representatives to the Foundation’s Board. The elected representatives on our board play a vital role in our governance. The results of the election are listed below. I want to personally thank everyone who participated in this year’s election process, and notably those who stood for election. Congratulations to all!
We look forward to their continued leadership and collaboration, effective 1 April 2025. I’d also like to personally thank Thomas Königseder and Carlo Piana for running in this year’s election.
I want to highlight the impactful work of the Open Regulatory Compliance Working Group. This initiative has made significant strides in recent months, including launchingnew resources on GitHub, hosting our inaugural workshop in Brussels, participating in the EU Open Source Policy Summit, attending the first CRA Expert Group meeting, representing the community at FOSDEM, and developing a comprehensive deliverables plan to outline next steps and encourage broader community involvement. These achievements reflect our commitment to fostering collaboration and advancing regulatory compliance within open source.
In alignment with our focus on enhancing open source security, I’m excited to announce our collaborationwith theSovereign Tech Fund, a program of the Sovereign Tech Agency. The Sovereign Tech Fund will invest in the development, improvement, and maintenance of open digital base technologies worldwide, driving significant security enhancements across Eclipse Foundation projects. Securing this new source of funding demonstrates the quality and the value of the work being done by the Foundation’s security team; I urge all members to follow closely the work being done by our team.
I’m pleased to report that our membership remains strong. As of February 28, we have 385 Corporate Members and 2,050 Committers. The 2025 budget which was approved by the Board in December 2024 includes further growth for the Foundation, once again driven by our working groups and new initiatives. Also, I’m pleased to report that we closed out fiscal year 2024 on a strong note, and that our finances are healthy heading into 2025.

Toolchain Modernization Strategy Interest Group Formation
The Toolchain Modernization Strategy Interest Group was formally established in February. It was founded by EclipseSource (Lead), Renesas, and TypeFox, and has subsequently been joined by IBM, Vector, STMicroelectronics, and Kitchwa Coders. The Interest Group's primary objective is to facilitate the exchange of expertise and collaboratively develop strategic frameworks for the modernisation, migration, and transformation of technology stacks. Specifically, the group will address the complexities associated with transitioning both desktop-based and cloud-based products towards more contemporary and scalable solutions, while also considering the integration of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence.
A highly productive Kick-Off Meeting has already taken place, and the next meeting has been scheduled with a predetermined agenda.
