Join the Member Town Halls for an Update on Our Transition to Europe
As previously communicated on May 12 in the member newsletter and our press release, the Eclipse Foundation has embarked on the process of establishing itself as an international non-profit association based in Brussels. We are happy to share what you will need to know about this transition and its impact to you during two upcoming Member Town Halls:
Both of these Town Halls have the identical agenda. They will be focused entirely on the topic of the transition of the Eclipse Foundation’s governance to Europe. All are welcome to join either or both meetings.
At the time of writing, all of the incorporation and related documents have been filed with the Belgian authorities, and we are waiting for the Royal Decree, which will formally create our new entity, the Eclipse Foundation AISBL. This normally takes approximately sixty days and we expect the process to be finalized by early- to mid-October.
All members, including both corporate and committer members, will be asked to transition their membership to the new Eclipse Foundation AISBL over the next few months. We will reach out to you directly about the process for doing so as the time draws nearer.
For more information on the status of the transition, please refer to Executive Director Mike Milinkovich’s recent update blog. We will also publish membership FAQs on this subject later this week.
A vote by the Membership At-Large, which includes all members except Associate members, will be initiated later this month regarding proposed changes to the Bylaws and Membership Agreement of Eclipse Foundation, Inc., the existing Delaware, USA-based entity.
The proposed changes are intended to happen in parallel with the creation of the Eclipse Foundation AISBL in Belgium. The current Board of Directors of the U.S.-based Eclipse Foundation have approved changes to the Bylaws and Membership Agreement of the U.S. organization that will ensure both the U.S. and Belgian entities remain aligned with respect to classes of membership and governance structures.
As part of the update process, we are seeking the approval of all members for these changes.
Watch for more information about this in your inbox.

Attend Jakarta LiveStream Fall 2020
Mark your calendars for JakartaOne Livestream Fall 2020.
The event date will be announced shortly for a virtual conference that will showcase the technical benefits and architectural advances that become possible with cloud native Java, Eclipse MicroProfile, Jakarta EE, and Java EE technologies.
This one-day event is a great way for the Java community, developers, and architects to share best practices, technical insights, experiences, use cases, and innovations, and to discuss the future of Jakarta EE.
This year’s JakartaOne Livestream event builds on the success of last year’s event — our first-ever — which attracted more than 1,400 participants and was very well received by attendees.
Stay tuned for registration details. In the meantime:
