PDT Project Plan for Release 1.0

Last revised: 06/22/2007

Please send comments about this plan to the eclipse.tools.pdt newsgroup.

This document lays out the feature and API set for the next release of the PDT project, release 1.0.

The plan of the 1.0 version is based on the initial SRS which is available here. On top of that SRS many bugs were submitted together with enhancement requests that were/will be included in the 1.0 release. You can find all PDT open bugs here.

The first part of the plan deals with the important matters of release deliverables, release milestones, target operating environments, and release-to-release compatibility. These are all things that need to be clear for any release, even if no features were to change.

Release Deliverables

The release deliverables are:

  • Source code release for PDT is available in the eclipse.org CVS repositories for PHP.
  • PDT runtime binaries and SDK distributions are available in the download page.
  • PDT runtime binaries and SDK features are available on eclipse.org update site (install via Eclipse update manager).

Release Milestones

PDT builds are available weekly as Integration builds. PDT Milestone Releases are approximately every six weeks of integration builds.

Following the final milestone, release candidates will begin. There should be at least two release candidates before the actual release. Scheduled release candidates should end one week before the release.

  • 1.0M2 - 30th of August 2007
  • 1.0RC1 - 21st of August 2007
  • 1.0RC2 - Will be scheduled if needed
  • Target Operating Environments

PDT 1.0 will support all operating environments supported by the Eclipse Platform itself. For a list of supported environments, refer to Eclipse Project for a list of reference platforms.
