How to Make a Technology Nomination

Technology Awards

The Technology Awards are for applications, products and open source projects not hosted at Eclipse. Nominations may be submitted by anyone and vendors are welcome to nominate their own products. To submit, complete the questionnaire below and e-mail it to awards@eclipse.org. Answers can simply be addressed in the body or your e-mail or in a MS Word or OpenOffice attachment. Nominations opened December 3, 2009 and closed January 29, 2010. Winners will be announced at EclipseCon 2010.

Nomination Questionnaire

  1. Technology award category - choose one:
    * Best Commercial Developer Tool
    * Best Open Source Developer Tool
    * Best EclipseRT Application
    * Best RCP Application
  2. Name of person submitting award
  3. Contact information of person (telephone and e-mail)
  4. Name of product
  5. URL of product
  6. 100 word description of product
  7. Description of the usability features

Include everything you think is important for your customers to be successful with the product. Please provide links to any additional resources rather than attaching the resources themselves to your e-mail. This will ensure easier distribution to the judging panel.
  10. OPTIONAL: Feel free to make a 3-5 minute screen cam demo of your product and provide the link

Determining Winners

The Technology Award winners are determined by a panel of judges selected from Eclipse-oriented editors and Eclipse project leaders. The panel of judges determines winners based on a majority vote. The criteria for judging the awards are:

  1. Usability and intuitiveness of the user interface - is the product user interface easy to understand?
  2. Innovation and uniqueness - how cleverly does the product solve the problem?
  3. Completeness - how well does the product solve the problem, including technology, documentation, tutorials, resources and community support?

Past Winners

Eclipse is a large, vibrant community of many well-deserving technologies. Therefore, to ensure diversity of award winners, we have decided that applications, products and projects are not eligible in any category they have already won in the previous 3 years. They can also only win one category per year. There are certainly technologies deserving of multiple awards, however we would like to acknowledge others also worthy of recognition.
