switching to emacs key bindings has no effect [message #519823]

os x snow leopard
java v 1.6.0_17
eclipse ide for jee developers v1.2.2.20100217-2310
eclipse platform 3.5.2.m20100211-1343

the emacs key bindings used to work well, then one day they just stopped. i don't remember what the event was that may have caused this ...It could have been installing a new plugin or running "check for updates".

now switching to the emacs keys scheme has no effect. copy is still command-c, paste is command-v etc. I have tried "restore defaults" with no success.

Other than a fresh install, any suggestions on how I can restore the emacs key bindings?
