Hi, I'm a new eclipse user, I downloaded it because I need to make some workflows with jbpm.
I downloaded all needed files and followed all steps of jbpm tutorial many times but I've the always the same problem.
After installing eclipse, the jbpm plugin and configure it, when I start to follow the utilization tutorial I start eclipse, right click and select "new"->"project" but in this menù there's not the entry "jBOSS JBPM Project" so I can't continue to work.
Please anyone could help me? Are 3 or 4 days that I'm trying to work on it, I downloaded, reinstalled and reconfigured jdk, jbpm and eclipse many and many times but nothing to do.
I'm using windows 7 professional 64bit, the last version of eclipse for java enterprise edition, jdk 1.6.0_17 32bit (eclipse doesn't start with the one at 64bit) jBPM 4.2 (but I tried also with versions 4.1 and 4.0).
Thanks a lot.

Hi,
My Eclipse was working properly a couple of days back but suddenly It's stopped working and gives me an error : "workspace does not contain a main type,Do you have a public void run method"
Now,I think the problem Is some how the jar's that I'm trying to upload aren't getting uploaded.
I say this because a strange problem has arised and I think this might have to do with Eclipse giving the above error.

This Is what I do to create a new java project
-Open eclipse
-save files to workspace
-click on new > java project
-Then,give the project a name and then click finish
-after that I create a new class by right clicking on the project folder > new > class >give the class a name and then click finish.
-after that I open workspace(thats on my desktop) click on the project folder make a new folder name It "lib" and upload the jar that I need for the project.
-after this I go back Into eclipse and right click on the project folder and hit refresh, now I see the folder"lib" containing the jar Inside It.
-I right click on the jar file and select "add to build path",and now theres the Issue comes In.

I want the jar to Into the reference librarys, because the last time I got the jar In the reference library It worked.
But this time I can't even manage to find where the reference library Is.
so when I click on add to build path the jar Instead of appearing in the reference library (which Isn't there) just dissapears.

I really need to fix this, because I cant test and write code until Its fixed.

heres a snapshot of how my eclipse framework looks : http://www.flickr.com/photos/38561743@N03/4122304046/sizes/o /

I tried to solve this on my own for hours and hours but It just Isn't working.
please guys help,I need to solve this.

Thanks,

1.I migrated from Dreamweaver WITHOUT the need for easy remote functionality 0 / 0%
2.I migrated from Dreamweaver WITH easy remote functionality (Aptana or Aptana combi) 1 / 100%
3.I migrated from Dreamweaver WITH easy remote functionality (with TM/RSE) 0 / 0%
4.I migrated from Dreamweaver WITH easy remote functionality (with other plugin) 0 / 0%
5.I migrated from Dreamweaver WITH easy remote functionality (with something else) 0 / 0%
6.I didn't migrate from Dreamweaver, but want to, but easy remote functionality and/or WYSIWYG keep me from it 0 / 0%
7.I didn't migrate from Dreamweaver, but want to, but easy remote functionality and/or WYSIWYG are NOT keeping me from it 0 / 0%
8.I didn't migrate from Dreamweaver and it doesn't interest me 0 / 0%

Here are some Pros and Cons I came across while trying to migrate from Dreamweaver CS4 to Eclipse (Platform 3.5.1.R35 / WTP 3.1.1 / RSE 3.1.1). I spent about 3 days on it.

I really really wanted to migrate from Dreamweaver to Eclipse for ALL my projects. Eclipse is just so wide and deep at the same time!
But I am afraid that it's only possible for my svn or similar projects though and eclipse is not ready yet for ftp, ssh etc... Not if you're someone like me and you value your development time. See further below why.
I do appreciate all the developer efforts for eclipse, but I can't enjoy your code yet, guys. And I didn't write this topic to get on your nerves, just to inform fellow Dreamweavers and possibly yourselves for my reasons..
I think there are some, if not, a lot of Dreamweavers out there that would really want to migrate to Eclipse too, but didn't or won't do it for the same reason(s). You Dreamweavers out there, please let me know what you think (whether you agree or not)! Those who haven't tried yet, I advise you wait a while! It might be near (or not; read on). (Edit: although you might try Aptana, see end of post)

I can already hear some people say at point 1 below: "Oh no! Not THAT again!"..."The neverending Dreamweaver question" or "...ftp synchronization question". The reason why people continue to ask IMHO is because the answers provided so far (by some very nice people) are just not the real answers (or only parts of it). I believe the biggest remaining question that most of us are talking about are individual file uploads and downloads at random ánd with a single action (key-combination or right mouse click menu), not just the possibility to connect (and then spent minutes for each file or having to create 101 import/export template files).

Anyway, here are my noteworthy Pros and Cons:

Cons:

  1. One can't do an easy accessible up- or download, compare or similar for individual files at random (at any given moment) with some remote systems. With easy accessible I mean: with a single click or right mouse button in your project! Simply said: "Easy synchronization" or "Local-Remote file system Link"
It works of course with the obvious systems which were focussed on this sync. issue, such as CVS, subversion, etc.., but not with (S)FTP, SSH, Linux server, etc..!
No, RSE/TM can't do this either! I've tried a lot ( which means checking forums, tutorials, etc. over 20 man-hours). The solutions provided are just not sufficient or much too buggy. (See below this article for the bugs.)
    Some of my trials include:

    • FTP, SFTP, SSH, Linux connections
    • with RSE export/import and/or with "Review/Synchronize" checked!
(This checkbox should allow individual synchronization as far as I understand it)
    • with the "save as file export/import" option ("rimpfd" or "rexpfd")
(I call these import/export templates, they are just user action templates, but you almost need one for every file or filepool you want to sync.)
    • even the Google summer code 2009 one on SSH (Team Synchronization on top of RSE)
Tried this as standalone download, but as it is said there it should be integrated in RSE 3.1m5 (org.eclipse.rse.importexport / since 8 Feb 2009). Though it's full of bugs.
    • Link resource project (Not supported error)
    • ...

  2. Decent WYSIWYG for php files! (WTP Web Page Editor? Doesn't work with php files. Tried it.)
Brower output is far from sufficient.

Pros:

  1. Class- , output- and function views are just amazing (including the well known and handy visual aids well applied trhoughout the Eclipse framework)
  2. The code assist works and has more than 1 thing to show! O, baby! (incl. amongst others php manual code assist and go to php manual commands).
  3. Todo's and tasks are a workflow saviour!
  4. Easy to integrate and well interfaced with debuggers such as XDebug or Zend Debugger.
  5. Remote search or an SSH shell in the same workspace! Oehababa, oehababa.
  6. SQL explorer in the same workspace, and so many more stuff you can integrate. IT-shag! (Haven't tested this one though)

Things I didn't try (or found immediate enough) though which I am very curious about:

  1. CSS support

    1. With remote as local css files?
    2. with current element's applicable styles?
    3. with specificity?

  2. The various (remote and local) search mechanism
Not sure if the local ones beat Dreamweaver though, such as saving search queries and search in site, in file, in file selection, in current file, in current text selection?

Conclusion:
You make up your own minds, but where do I stand?
Cons nr. 1 and 2 are enough NOT to migrate yet, since these are really enormous time saviours in DW (CS4). Although, only this number 1 (easy sync) is probably the gate for me. Can't live without it. I might just once migrate without nr. 2 (WYSIWYG).I am really looking forward to some progress in one of these possibilities. And I believe Eclips is almost there! Of course the big question is "When?". As you might expect with open source, everything depends on a nice guy out there deciding to spend some time on it. Maybe I should enter this as a feature request once. I spent too much time already for now.

I hope that, as a result of my "quest", I at least saved some time for some people out there or that this information is worthwhile to someone.

Praying to the Developer God now.., Bye bye

Some pages I used for this trial, for anyone interested:
Some of the bugs:

------------------------

Next step: I am gonna try out Aptana for now, on top of PDT etc.. I can say this already: Looks promising, why didn't I try this before? The challenge will be to set up my workspace As I want. "Do I use Aptana or PDT View for this or that or...?"

I get the BirtException "No such script extension : javascript" when I run a Birt report in a RCP plugin.

If I use Preview feature in "Report Design" perspective I see report data.

This seems to be a classpath issue. Has anybody seen this? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

So I'm looking to debug my eclipse plugins and I want to be able to step
through eclipse source as needed. For example to step through the the
load of my plugins by eclipse, or step into eclipse API my plugins might
call.

I am running from the eclipse 3.4.2 sdk.

By default I believe the default target is self.

A few questions:

Q1: What else do I need to do to be able to browse eclipse source, and
debug into eclipse source?

Q2: What is the proper way to grep eclipse source. If I look in the
eclipse SDK I see the source is all in .zip files. like
org.eclipse.equinox.p2.metadata_1.0.0.v20080514-1900.jar
and
org.eclipse.equinox.p2.metadata.source_1.0.0.v20080514-1900. jar

seems this makes greping hard to do. Is there a good technique for
finding source here via eclipse workbench tooling?

Q3: I see there is an eclipse source package.
http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.4.2- 200902111700/sourceBuilds.php
Is the idea that I can load all the eclipse source projects into my
workspace and start a debug instance running fully from source? (no
target specified).

Q4: Any other tricks to working with eclipse source and debugging using
it that anyone want to share?

Thanks for guidance and answers

Hi,

I am using Windows XP SP3, MS Office 2007 and Eclipse
( Eclipse IDE for Java and Report Developers 1.2.1.20090918-0703 epp.package.reporting ).

I have a project and within the project a folder and within the folder I create a file with the extension .doc.

It then opens in Eclipse with Word 2007. When I try to save it, it looks like it works, but the file is not saved and has disapeared.

When I created in Word 2007 a file and save it and then I try to change it in Eclipse and then save it, it also disapears from the filesystem.

When I create a file association for .doc to use Word 2007 then it all works fine. But this way it does not open within Eclipse.

I want to open the file (and Word 2007) in Eclipse and not outside of it. How can I do this or what am I forgetting?

Thanks,
Patrick

Hi,

We need help to troubleshoot an error. We start Eclipse on a SunRay or Citrix TS, and then it crashes almost right after it opens. Usually just clicking on the "About Eclipse Platform" option, under Help menu is enough to crash it. And we get the error below.
Eclipse is installed on SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 (x86_64); VERSION = 10 ; PATCHLEVEL = 2

If you need any additional info, pls let me know.

Thanks a lot, Juliana

Sometimes, we compile a huge Java project with multiple executable files, each contains a "main()" function for sure.

My question is: is there a convenient way to only point out the executable files?
It's absolutely inconvenient to manually search for one file that contains a "main()" function. There must be a convenient way to do so, right?

Can anybody give me a hint how to ?

Thanks very much.

When I try to depoly a plug-in that make it running outside Eclipse. The
following problem is encountered.

"Unable to find plug-in:
org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.201.R35x_v20090715. Please check the error

I check the plug-in directory in c:\java\eclipse\plugins that the jar file,
i.e. "org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.201.R35x_v20090715" is right there.

I copy that file to my plugins directory and it doesn't work. I try also
specify that file in the reference libraries, it does not help as well.

I am running eclipse 3.5.1 on a window machine. Anybody could give me some
hints what is going on?

It's been bothering me for some time now.

When opening files in Eclipse other than those Eclipse knows about it tends to open them in an external editor. Without having to associate each file type I might work with to the internal editor, is there a way of having Eclipse default to opening files with the internal editor?

I'm a mac user that is working on eclipse running on Linux. I'd like to know if there's a way to keep the same keybindings I use on the mac but run them on eclipse. I've tried customizing the keybindings so that command and control are switched, but it doesn't get them all and they don't all work.
For example, when I use command S, instead of getting save, it's giving me the File, Edit, SOURCE dropdown option instead.

Is there a way to switch the whole keyboard layout to mac style?

Thanks!

Hi

I need to downgrade the installed version of JUnit from the installed (Galileo) version of 4.5 to 4.4 and upgrade the installed version of EclipseLink to 1.2 from 1.1. When I try to edit the libraries all the edit/remove/add Jar options are greyed out - or do I have to add my "new" versions as User Libraries?

Greetings,
I have changed the three ports specified under properties on the server view so I can run multiple tomcat instances to mimic various servers. When I try and shut one down it says "Server Tomcat 5.5 on localhost not responding -- do you want to shut down this server?" Needless to say I cannot hit 'restart'; I have to stop, wait for the error, then start, which is annoying and time consuming.

I expect eclipse is trying to communicate on the old management port -- is there another place to change this?

thanks

Hi,

When I start eclipse, the splash screen appears and I'm able to specify a workspace. After that..the splash screen hangs there forever. After sometime I ctrl-c it to get control of the cmdline back.

installed eclipse-SDK-3.5.1-aix-motif.zip this morning.

General Description: Every time I restart my local tomcat web server, the next time I hit a breakpoint, eclipse can't find the project source.

Background: I have been using Eclipse at my current job for about three months. I did not encounter this problem for the first two months but it has been consistent for the last month. I thought it might be related to a specific project, but it happens on every project I open, even projects that did not previously have the problem.

Details: Each and every time I restart my tomcat web server, then the next time I hit an eclipse breakpoint, the source window is empty with the message "Source not found." in red, and then below that the button: "Edit Source Lookup Path..."

I click on the button, which brings up the Edit Source Lookup Path window with only Default listed under the Source local Lookup Path section.

I click "Add..." which brings up the Add Source window. In that window, I double click on "Java Project" which brings up the Project Selection window. In that window, there is one project listed (the project which is currently open which I am currently debugging).

I check the checkbox next to that project and click OK (leaving the two other checkboxes checked). This takes me back to the Edit Source Lookup Path window and now my project is listed along with Default under the Source Lookup Path section.

I click OK and the source appears in the editor window and I can proceed without any problems until the next time I restart my tomcat server.

Other Info: I have tried modifying the project's Build Path Source section and adding the local code jar to the Build Path libraries, but nothing seems to fix this. I have done a lot of googling and have searched this forum and the bug list, but can't find any relevant information. As I said, this problem only started occurring out of the blue about a month ago and now it happens every single time. Is there an environment variable I need to set?

Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks,
Jeremy

I have a diagram where objects are connected to show relationship.

Crow head is used at the end of connection.

Most of the cases it is correct but for top-botton relationship of objects, the crow head on the bottom object gets displaced.

Its not consistence, for first few connection its fine, but for later one it get displaced (shown in d figure with red arrow).

Could any one collect the reason.

Thanks

When I click "Help" -> "Install new software" and select any value in "Work with..." nothing happened. When I switch to another window and switch to Eclipse again (and eclipse window redrawed) I see valid data in software list. But when I select software and click to "Next" nothing happened again. I did not find any network activity since this moment.

There are no traceback in eclipse stdout or stderr.

I waited for a little CPU load.
I increased the amount of maximum memory in eclipse.ini.
I tried a new, clean installation of Eclipse.
I tried to delete workspace/.metadata.
I tried to copy to my machine other instance, where installation works fine.
I tried to run update-java-alternatives.
I tried to change the gtk theme.
Every time I was restarted Eclipse and tried again.

But nothing helped.

All other applications on gtk working well.

Greetings,
I have a web project with a simple JSP that has an applet tag. within the project I have created an applet which runs in the applet viewer. I created a linked folder in the WebContent folder to the folder containing the class (build\classes).

When I run the jsp in the internal browser I get a red x where the applet should be, regardless of what I put in the codebase. If I cut and paste the codebase + the class name in the address of the internal browser, it prompts me "what do you want to do with this file?" so the linked folder is working correctly.

I did try creating the same applet in a package (rather than the default no package) and the linked folder showed the new package, and I added the package to the CODE in the applet tag. No change in the jsp output.

wait wait!! I can view the applet in both IE and firefox, just not in the internal browser. What's with that? Suggestions?

Yesterday I spent hours hunting down server settings because I was not running the EE version -- no server management at all! PITA haha. Today I cannot find the server setting for adding a new server. The docs (and help) say: "In the Servers view, right-click on the server and select Add and Remove Projects".

There is a server listed in the servers view (Tomcat c5.5 Server at localhost [started, synchronized]) and it gives me a 404 in the browser when it is running, so that's goodness. However, in the rt-click menu there is no "Add and Remove Projects", just "add and remove" which errors out for lack of resources to add.

Did this setting move? do I have a bad configuration?

I do have an "Enterprise Application Project" to add, but it has a red x on the application.xml file -- I have no way of knowing if these are related.

Thanks!

*** update ***

Well, I can use a dynamic web project and use 'run as' -> 'run on server' which is awesome. It still means I am missing a setting or the docs are out of date.

All,

I am new to CDT and I would like to use and develop FlTk programs with CDT to do graphics programming with OpenGL, however I can't seem to get FlTk setup properly with CDT, could anyone lend me a hand/tell me what I'm doing wrong or not doing?

Here's what I've done thus far:

I've added the include paths in Project->Properties->Settings->Tool Settings Tab->GCC C++ Compiler-> Directories

C:/fltk-1.1.7
(I use #include <FL/...> for including files)

I've also added the libraries in Tool Settings tab->MinGW C++ Linker->Libraries and in the -L box I have the directory that contains the fltkd, fltkdll, fltkdlld, etc... In the -l box I have fltkd, wsock32, and comctl32, as when I set it up in VC++ these were needed, and this setup worked in VC++.

Any help is much appreciated!

Hello,

I am trying to connect the report designer to a mysql db.

I downloaded the driver from mysql, and created a new report.

I created a new data source (jdbc data source) - named it, click next and clicked manage drivers.
I clicked "add", pointed it to the .jar file, and it shows up in the jar files tab.
However, when I clock the drivers tab, it is not listed.

Any ideas?

Hello,
What I would like is to search for a text inside files from a folder which resides on a remote server. I am connected to this server via sftp (using RSE), but I cannot find how can I search inside files.

The closest thing I came to is to search through the temporary files associated to the connection (using working sets).

Is this possible without making a local filesystem mount (with 3rd party tools like fuse/sshfs) of the remote location?

thank you

Sorry, maybe I am open the topic in wrong channel. But hope someone can help me on this!

I am new in Eclipse and GWT. I downloaded GWT 1.7.1 and also your gwt-diagrams-0.3.jar.

Currently I am testing with the GWT StockWatcher, it work fine to me.

Now, I added the gwt-diagrams-0.3.jar into the project and going to test the Diagrams drawing. But when I run the application it show me the error message:

any two plugins? Please advise. Thanks.

Hi,

I have a problem with Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers. Build id: 20090920-1017 which i can't figure out.

Normally when i change a file during debug it hot replaces the code and i can keep on debugging. On my new installation i can see some building in the lower right corner like usual but after a little while it opens a new console and does a full deploy to jboss (jboss-4.2.2.GA). This stops my debugging session and i have to wait multiple minutes before the deploy is loaded again.

This is not the "hot code replacement failed" message. This even happens when i just add or delete a white space and save!

the deploy has the following console output:
Buildfile: C:\Dev\eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.jst.server.generic.jboss_ 1.6.1.v200904151730\buildfiles\jboss323.xml
deploy.j2ee.web:
[jar] Building jar: C:\Dev\WorkspaceA\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.wst.server. core\tmp0\GTBagWeb.war
[move] Moving 1 file to C:\Dev\jboss-4.2.2.GA\server\default\deploy
BUILD SUCCESSFUL
Total time: 11 seconds

Why would it use that buildfile? i did not tell eclipse to do that. i did notice a "ant publisher properties" if i double click on the server which my old installation does not have. but there is nothing filled in there.
On my other installation the directory of the plugin mentioned in the console output is empty. But if i delete the contents in my new installation it breaks jboss in eclipse.

Please help me stop this becouse it is driving me nuts!!
